Zambian Soccer Coach Accused Of Groping Player Amid FIFA Women’s World Cup
Zambian soccer coach Bruce Mwape is under investigation after a player accused him of groping at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Via report from The Guardian, Zambian coach Bruce Mwape allegedly rubbed his hands over the chest of one of his players before their game against Costa Rica. According to the source, there were many witnesses of the incident.
While the Zambia Association of Football says on the controversy, it “has not received any such complaint from any of the players or officials in the delegation that traveled to the World Cup.”
The FIFA spokesperson told ABC News, “FIFA takes any allegation of misconduct extremely seriously and has a clear process in place for anyone in football who wants to report an incident.”
He further added the issue, “We can confirm that a complaint has been received in relation to the Zambian Women’s National team and this is currently being investigated. We cannot provide further details regarding an ongoing investigation for obvious confidentiality reasons.”
The News came as surprise for the Zambian general secretary of the Football Association. He says that the allegations come as a surprise, and he also noted that each of the team’s practices have been filmed independently as well as by a FIFA crew.
And points to the footage video that there is nothing to suggest any conduct that would fall under what has been alleged.
Team Zambia couldn’t get through the knockout round but did win its first-ever World Cup match.
