Caleb White, a student at Pinson Valley High School, sadly lost his life on Thursday due to a sudden health issue that hit him late morning.

As reported by Al.com, Caleb, who was an active member of the school’s basketball team, collapsed while working out with his teammates.

Caleb’s grandfather took to social media to share his grief and tell us about the remarkable young man Caleb was. He told everyone that, “Caleb was an honor student, very respectful, high intellect, excellent role model, phenomenal basketball player, ranked 25th best point guard in his class in the nation and No. 2 in the state of Alabama.”

Caleb’s skills on the basketball court were really impressive. He was even a finalist for the state’s Class 6A player of the year. During his junior season, he averaged 20.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. That’s why he got those first-team all-state honors – he truly deserved them.

Alvin Briggs, the head of the AHSAA, also offered his condolences. He praised Caleb’s qualities as a student-athlete and a role model. He said, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Caleb’s family, his classmates and basketball team, and extended school family. He was an outstanding student-athlete and role model.”
