Yakuza devs complete a marathon stream by beating seven games

The developers at Ryu Ga Gotoku studio, creators of the popular Yakuza game series, decided to embark on a marathon gaming session last week. The studio hosted a massive live stream, playing through every mainline Yakuza game that featured the character Kiryu as the protagonist. The event, which began on March 17, lasted a grueling 170 hours and saw the developers beat all the games back-to-back.

Yakuza Gaming Session

The marathon session started with Yakuza 0 and ended with Yakuza 6. The developers were not alone, and various hosts and players joined in throughout the session. Despite the length and difficulty of Yakuza 5, with its five different protagonists, the team persevered and emerged victorious.

Special Guests

Fans who tuned into the live stream were treated to a few special guests. Takaya Kuroda, the voice actor for Kazuma Kiryu, was present and even entertained viewers with his impression of Goro Majima. Meanwhile, Hidenari Ugaki, the voice actor for Majima, also joined in on the fun.

Celebration and Future Plans

Once the marathon was over, the developers at Ryu Ga Gotaku studio took to Twitter to celebrate. They posted a group photo of the team and thanked fans for joining them on their โ€œlong delivery of about 170 hours.โ€ The studio also announced that Yakuza 8 (Like A Dragon 8) is coming soon, and two Yakuza spin-offs focusing on Kiryu’s time in between the main storyline are scheduled for release next year.

It’s not every day that you see developers undertaking such a monumental gaming session. The dedication and perseverance of the team at Ryu Ga Gotoku studio is admirable, and it is always exciting to see what is next for the Yakuza franchise. With upcoming spin-offs and new games in the pipeline, fans of the series have plenty to look forward to.
