WWE Superstars who were professional footballers
Welcome to this edition of the Bull Score news article. Today, we are going to discuss those famous WWE superstars who were in Football Profession before making their debut in wrestling. As they say, not all sports are made for every person. There are many WWE Superstars (active or retired) who were in professional football teams and played for NFL but that’s not something they were made for. Then, they decided to join professional wrestling and created history, and are now popular names in the wrestling world.

William Scott Goldberg
William Scott Goldberg (aka, Bill Goldberg) is famously known for his tenure with WWE where he debuted on March 31, 2003. But do you know that before becoming a famous wrestler, he was a professional footballer? Where he played for the Los Angeles Rams in the 1990 NFL season, followed by a stint with the Sacramento Gold Miners of the Canadian Football League in 1992 and the Atlanta Falcons from 1992 to 1994.
Leati Joseph “Joe” Anoa?i
Leati Joseph “Joe” Anoa?i (aka, Roman Reigns) is the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. But do you know that before coming to the wrestling profession, he was a football player? He started playing football during his college, After playing college football for Georgia Tech, he started his professional football career with the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL) in 2007.
Brock Edward Lesnar
Brock Edward Lesnar (aka, Brock Lesnar) is a successful WWE Superstar. Before that, he won the prestigious titles in UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) also. But, he was a professional footballer and played in NFL for Minnesota Vikings in 2004, but was cut from the team because of injuries. Then, he made his return back in WWE.
Dwayne Douglas Johnson
Dwayne Douglas Johnson (aka, The Rock) is a successful Hollywood star and WWE wrestler. He is famous for his tenure in WWE and for his movie like Black Adam. But, he played professional football before making his career in wrestling and hollywood. He started playing football during college and later joined the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League in 1995 but was later removed from the team. Then, he joined his family’s profession of wrestling and made his debut in WWF (now WWE).
John Charles Layfield
John Charles Layfield (aka, John Bradshaw Layfield or ‘JBL’) is popular for his tenure with WWE as a wrestler and ring-side commentator. He is now in an official role with WWE where he conducts interviews of WWE Legends around a round table. But during his initial days, he was a professional footballer and he played collegiate American football for Trinity Valley Community College and for Abilene Christian University. Also, he played in the World League of American Football, starting all ten games of the 1991 season as a right tackle for the San Antonio Riders, wearing jersey number 61.
