WWE Rivals (Greatest Rivalries in Wrestling) Highlights and Streaming Updates
WWE Rivals is an exclusive show that shows biographies of WWE Superstars and it premiers on A&E network at 10 p.m. ET/PT, it features the greatest rivalries of Legends in WWE History. Some of the greatest rivalries in the history of WWE are ‘John Cena vs Edge’, ‘The Undertaker vs Kane’, ‘Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart’, and ‘Rey Mysterio vs Eddie Guerero’. The show also features an exclusive interview with WWE Legends, where they discuss the details and best moments of the rivalry. The Exclusive Show of WWE Rivals started last year in July 2022. There has been a total of 2 seasons and 13 episodes till now.
The first season of WWE Rivals premiered the previous year (2022) and contained a total of 9 episodes featuring the rivalries as follows:
S01 E01 (Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart vs Shawn Michaels)
The rivalry between two of the greatest performers in the history of WWE and Hall of Famers, Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart. This rivalry headlined wrestling sports entertainment in the 90’s decade. Did you know that the feud between these two featured more than 50 matches between 1992 and 1994, where Bret Hart dominated the rivalry? The two faced each other on the 900th episode of WWE Red Brand Show ‘Monday Night Raw’, where both shook hands inside the WWE Ring.
The two of them also main-evented WrestleMania 12 in 1996, where Shawn Michaels defeated Bret Hart and became WWF (now WWE) Champion.
S01 E02 (Undertaker vs Kane)
The Undertaker debuted in Survivor Series 1990 as Kane’ The Undertaker’ but later on, WWE officials decided to drop ‘Kane’ from his in-ring name and let it be The Undertaker. In 1997, Glenn Jacobs made his in-ring debut as ‘Kane’ and costed his storyline brother, The Undertaker a match against Shawn Michaels. After that their rivalry started and Kane continued to play games with the taker which led their rivalry to a match at WrestleMania 14, where Undertaker defeated Kane.
The rivalry turned into three-times tag-team champions (out of which they won WWF tag-team titles 2 times, and won WCW tag-team titles 1 time) when they both joined hands and created The Brothers of Destruction. The duo later got separated when Kane helped Vince Mcmahon in his buried alive match with The Undertaker, leading the Undertaker to return in his favorite and most popular gimmick (character) ‘Deadman’. Deadman returned to WrestleMania 20 to fight Kane and defeated him to teach a lesson.
After it they reunited many times, Undertaker returned and helped team ‘hell no (Kane and Daniel Bryan) against the shield, and they reunited on the 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw to pay tribute to their former manager in WWE Paul Bearer (after his death). The last time they reunited inside the WWE ring as the Brothers of Destruction was at the Crown Jewels 2018 to fight D-Generation X (Hbk and Triple H) in a tag-team match.
S01 E03 (Stone Cold Steve Austin vs The Rock)
Dwyane Johnson The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestled each other 3 times at the biggest stage in sports entertainment ‘WrestleMania’ (WM 15, WM 17, and WM 19), and main-evented WrestleMania 15 and WrestleMania 17 for WWF (now WWE) Championship Title Match, where Stone Cold won both times and became WWF Champion. Stone cold was the top superstar of the Attitude Era between 1997 and 2002. Out of these 3 battles at WrestleMania, Stone cold won 2 and Rock won 1 match.
The last time they reunited inside the WWE ring was at the 30th edition of WWE WrestleMania where they were involved in a mic segment with The Immortal Hulk Hogan.
S01 E04 (Brock Lesnar vs Kurt Angle)
The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle had a history of ups and down inside the WWE ring. Lesnar and Kurt headlined and main-evented WrestleMania 19 for the WWF Championship, where Brock defeated Angle and became WWF Champion. Both have an equal record at WWE PPVs after Kurt angle defeated Lesnar and retained his WWE championship title at Summerslam 2003.
S01 E05 (WWE vs WCW)
WWF (now WWE) vs WCW was the rivalry between two great Sports Wrestling Entertainment Companies between 1995 and 2001. WWE’s ‘Monday Night Raw’ and WCW’s ‘Monday Nitro’ fight for Nielsen’s rating in the era of Monday Night Wars.
S01 E06 (Triple H vs Mick Foley)
The rivalry between Triple H and Mick Foley (aka, cactus jack) featured some iconic street fights, Hell in a Cell match, and fighting at the royal rumble. This episode of WWE Rivals featured some legends like The Undertaker, Stone cold, and Mick Foley (himself) where they discussed the time of Attitude Era when Triple H was a part of the corporation (stable/group) and mick foley along with stone cold, and the brothers of destruction tried to break the neck of it.
S01 E07 (John Cena vs Edge)
John Cena and Edge’s rivalry has featured 4 times face-offs at PPVs where both of them tie the record for 2 wins. All of these matches were in the year 2006 and all of them are for the WWE Championship Title, these are as follows (New Year’s Revolution 2006, Royal Rumble 2006, SummerSlam 2006, and Unforgiven 2006). John Cena won at Royal Rumble, and Unforgiven whereas Edge won at New Year’s Revolution, and Summerslam. Other than this, they have wrestled at WrestleMania 25 in a triple threat match (a match containing 3 individual competitors) for World Heavyweight Championship where Cena won the match and championship title.
S01 E08 (Rey Mysterio vs Eddie Guerero)
The highlight of this rivalry was when both Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerero claimed the custody of the father of Dominik (now Dominik Mysterio) and settled it down through a ladder fight at Summerslam 2005 where Mysterio defeated and won the match and custody too. Another highlight of this rivalry was when both of them faced off each other at WrestleMania 21 where Mysterio won. Only a few fans from WWE Universe know that they were best friends outside the ring.
S01 E09 (Stephanie Mcmahon vs Brie Bella)
Women’s Division Rivalry that featured the Queen of WWE’s Authority Stephanie Mcmhaon (Vince and Linda Mcmahon’s Daughter) and Brie Bella. This rivalry starts when Daniel Bryan (Brie’s husband) was punished by the Authority (Triple H and Stephanie) for not accepting their orders. This feud has featured a Summerslam match which was won by Stephanie Mcmahon with the help of Authority interference. This was the last episode premiered in the Season 1 of WWE’s Exclusive Show “WWE Rivals”.
Second Season of WWE Rivals
After the massive success rate of season 1 of WWE Rivals, WWE has decided to launch and telecast it’s second season. It has telecased 4 episodes till now, they are as follows:
