Alex Morgan played a big role in leading Team USA to win the World Cup in France. They had a strong victory by defeating the Netherlands 2-0 in the finals. This win made it the second consecutive time they won the tournament, and they proudly lifted the trophy, and the same thing is expected from her for FIFA 2023.

FIFA 2023 will soon start and as the starting dates of the World Cup are approaching,  the roster has officially been announced. On Wednesday, the official social media account of the United States Women’s National Soccer Team shared the news in a tweet.

According to ussoccer.com, the roster consists of six forwards, seven midfielders, seven defenders, and three goalkeepers.

“Forwards Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe and defender Kelley O’Hara were named to their fourth Women’s World Cup roster, becoming the 10th, 11th, and 12th U.S. Women’s National Team players to be selected for four or more tournaments. Two players were named to their third consecutive World Cup roster in goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher and midfielder Julie Ertz. Andonovski also named four players – defenders Crystal Dunn and Emily Sonnett and midfielders Lindsey Horan and Rose Lavelle – to their second World Cup roster and there are 14 players for whom this will be their first Women’s World Cup.”

Now the roster has been announced, The USWNT is all set to face Vietnam on July 21.

Alex Morgan’s Past Innings

In the FIFA Women’s World Cup final of 2011, Alex Morgan scored the first goal for the United States of America. She also helped with another goal in extra time, thinking that her team had won the match since it was her first World Cup.

However, Japan surprised everyone and won the title by defeating the USA 3-1 in a penalty shootout.

Four years later, Alex and her team came back stronger and won the World Cup in 2015. They defended their title again in 2019, with Alex scoring an impressive total of seven goals throughout the tournament. Football is a game where even small differences can determine the outcome, putting you on either side of history. Alex, who is now 33 years old, knows this better than anyone else, given her experiences as a forward.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 is just around the corner and Alex is determined to win the title with the US Women’s National Team, who are the current defending champions and will be competing in the tournament.

β€œWe are doing all preparations we can to be ready for the World Cup. For some of us, it’s our fourth go. We have four stars right now and we’re just hoping to get the fifth one,” she said.

Let’s wait and see how Alex performs in the upcoming World Cup season and whether she archives her goals or not. Whatever the came it’s going to be so much more interesting watching USWNT playing against other teams.
