Who is Victor Wembanyama’s Personal Trainer? Guillaume Alquier Preparing 7ft 5 Basketball Star for His Much Awaited NBA Debut
Victor Wembanyama’s basketball prowess is truly out of this world, and behind his phenomenal skills stands a man who has played a pivotal role in shaping his journey to the NBA. Allow us to introduce Guillaume Alquier, the 30-year-old lead trainer for Wembanyama’s professional French team, who has been entrusted with fine-tuning one of the most sensational prospects the game has ever witnessed.
Alquier commenced training the towering 7-foot-4 center back in August, prioritizing natural movements to enhance his agility, coordination, and overall performance while pushing his body to new limits.
As the primary trainer, Alquier works tirelessly with Victor before and after games, ensuring he receives the highest level of personalized attention. When asked about his approach to keeping the prized center in peak condition throughout the season, Alquier shared his expert insights in an interview with ESPN.
“The key lies in building leg strength to unleash the power necessary for dominating on the basketball court: whether it’s dominating inside, playing tough defense, or making those killer post moves,” Alquier explained. “In addition, we focus on core activation, and lastly, we prioritize preventive measures to keep Victor healthy throughout the entire season.”
Victor’s workout regimen is no joke, and his diet is equally intense. For the past five years, he has adhered to a five-meal-a-day plan, carefully calibrated to strike a balance between adding necessary weight and maintaining optimal motor control, protecting his knees and joints.
And so far, the results have been nothing short of spectacular. Wembanyama had a phenomenal season with the Metropolitans 92, showcasing his prowess by averaging an astounding 21.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 3.0 blocks in 34 games.
Hailing from Le Chesnay, just outside Paris, France, the 19-year-old Victor grew up surrounded by basketball. In fact, his two siblings, Eve and Oscar, are also talented basketball players, making their family a true force on the court.
As the much-anticipated 2023 NBA Draft approaches, set to take place on Thursday, June 22, at the iconic Barclays Center in Brooklyn, all eyes are on Wembanyama. The rumor mill suggests that he’s poised to be the No. 1 pick, with the San Antonio Spurs eagerly awaiting the chance to welcome this extraordinary talent onto their team.
