Who is Jaden Soong? Youngest Golfer on the Way to Become Next Tiger Woods

Can you believe a 13-year-old boy, Jaden Soong who is in the 7th grade is taking on the PGA world and is being called to be the next Tiger Woods? Jaden is the youngest golfer to join 89 other golfers in the final qualifying round for the men’s U.S. Open.

Soong had the chance to play in the tournament, but he had to earn his spot by qualifying for a 36-hole final on Monday at the Hillcrest Country Club in Los Angeles. If we talk about the current highest record then it belongs to 14-year-old Andy Zhang who participated in U.S. Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco in 2012.

Even though Jaden lost his chance to be in the top 5 spots but he wasn’t discouraged and said that he learned a lot.

“I learned a lot about my game as well. Things I need to improve on and things that are pretty good,” Jaden said.

“Overall, I think I just need to conserve my energy a little bit more.”

Soong who is from Burbank, California started playing Golf at a very young age, and ever since he is improving to the point that others started calling him the next Tiger Woods.

Soong had more than 29K followers on his Instagram account where you can see his golf-playing videos. Jaden is only 5-foot-2 and his weight is only 115 pounds but he still shoots a drive that can reach 280 yards. The young golfer seems to perfectly understand an old saying in golf that: “Drive for show, put for dough.”

During the initial qualifying round for the U.S. Open, Jaden performed really well. He made an impressive 12-foot putt during a playoff to move forward. He celebrated by doing Tiger Woods’ famous fist pump.

Jaden’s excellent performance caught the attention of TaylorMade, who provided him with golf clubs, and Nike, who gave him clothes to wear. After the match, Jaden’s dad talked about the whole experience and expressed his gratitude.
