Where Will Derek Carr Go Next? ESPN Insider Adam Schefter Weighs In
Derek Carr‘s future with the Las Vegas Raiders has become uncertain as the team’s coaching staff and front office have made it clear that he will not be returning for the next season. However, this presents a new opportunity for the veteran quarterback from Fresno State as he is expected to have a number of suitors.
According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, as many as eight teams could be in the running for Carr. The NFC South, Jets, Commanders, Colts, and Texans are all reportedly in need of a new quarterback, making Carr a valuable asset. Schefter also noted that Carr is expected to be traded “earlier rather than later.”
The Raiders have less than a month to work out a trade for Carr, as his base salary of $32.9 million for the 2023 season will become fully guaranteed on February 15th.
Carr has had a successful career with the Raiders, having been selected in the second round of the 2012 draft. He has accumulated 35,222 passing yards, 217 touchdowns, and 99 interceptions throughout his tenure.
In short, the sweepstakes for Derek Carr are expected to heat up in the coming weeks as teams look to secure their quarterback for the upcoming season. With a number of teams in need of a quarterback, Carr’s value has been elevated, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up next.
