“What’s my name?” Dillon Brooks channeled his inner “Heisenberg” to remind the reporters of his wicked character
Dillon Brooks understands his position as an NBA villain. The former Memphis Grizzlies foe just joined the Houston Rockets. On Tuesday, October 10, Brooks made his debut for Ime Udoka’s club in their preseason opener against the Indiana Pacers. The Rockets triumphed 122-103.
Brooks asked reporters his name in the aftermath of the game, channeling “Heisenberg” from the smash TV program “Breaking Bad.” After striking Daniel Theis below the belt while navigating a screen, Brooks was referring to his duty as a villain and acting as an enforcer for his new squad.
“Tried to navigate a screen,” Brooks said. “I might have tapped him below the waist. But he got right back up. I don’t know. Weirdly, I get picked on every time it happens to me. What’s my name? My name is Dillon, the villain. Slow motion is going to show everything… It is what it is.”
Dillon Brooks received a flagrant two-foul for striking Theis in the crotch. However, the Rockets star insists it was an unintentional motion that was part of routine basketball procedures. Nonetheless, considering Brooks’ record in the NBA, he is unlikely to be granted the benefit of the doubt in such cases.
Dillon Brooks appeared in only five minutes with the Houston Rockets.
Dillon Brooks was thrown out of the Houston Rockets game against the Indiana Pacers. The outspoken star saw only five minutes of action in his debut game for his new squad before his night was cut short. His Houston teammates, on the other hand, excelled in the first game.
Amen Thompson, a rookie, nearly had a double-double, scoring 7 points and collecting 9 rebounds. Cam Whitmore, a rookie guard, scored 15 points off the bench.
Rising stars Jabari Smith Jr., Alperen Sengun, and Jalen Green all stood out in their first preseason game, demonstrating that they are ready and capable of taking the next step in their growth. Of course, experienced acquisition Fred VanVleet contributed 10 points and 4 assists.
Ime Udoka, on the other hand, will want Brooks to tone down his aggressive play. Whether or not the egregious two are considered harsh, the veteran forward must recognize his image in the league and avoid placing himself in similar situations. Dillon Brooks enters the season after impressing in the FIBA World Cup and hopes to improve on those efforts.
The Houston Rockets will play their second preseason game of the season against the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday, October 12.
