Watch: Deion Sanders Shows Up His Team in Gym Video
Deion Sanders maybe 55 years old and rolling around on a segway due to two amputated toes on his left foot, but that didn’t stop him from flexing his muscles in the weight room. In fact, a video of the former NFL star and current head coach of the Colorado football team benching 245 pounds for six reps is going viral!
The video, posted by Thee Pregame Show, shows Sanders pumping iron alongside his son, Deion “Bucky” Sanders Jr., and Colorado assistant coach Sam Malone. Clad in a heavy coat over a hoodie, Sanders nonchalantly pops down on the bench without even warming up. He then effortlessly pumps out six reps before zooming away on his segway, declaring, “Don’t ever try me again.”
Sanders may have retired from playing in 2005, but he clearly hasn’t lost his touch in the weight room. As the new head coach at Colorado, he’s looking to raise the bar for his team, which only won one game last season. In fact, his players are currently wearing blank jerseys during spring practice until they earn their numbers.
“I’m old school, man,” Sanders said this week, according to Dean Straka of 247Sports. “My kids have to earn things. I don’t give them nothing. If you know me and how I parent, they don’t get nothing. They have to earn it.”
Clearly, Sanders is leading by example, showing his team that hard work and dedication are the keys to success both on and off the field. And with videos like this going viral, it’s safe to say that Coach Prime is already making waves in the college football world.
