Vinicius Jr hailed for his performance against Liverpool at Anfield
The Brazilian winger led Real Madrid to yet another miracle in the Champions League as Los Blancos defeated Liverpool 5-2. Liverpool had scored two early goals but Madrid showed character to come back from behind and seal a win. Carlo Ancelotti couldn’t stop, but praise the 22-year-oldAncelotti was full of praise for Vinicius after the game and credited the Brazilian for lifting Madrid when they needed it most.
WHAT THEY SAID:
While talking to the reporters, Ancelotti said, “Vinicius is the most decisive player in the world. There is no other player like him right now. He doesn’t stop dribbling, shooting. I hope he can maintain this level. Winning like this isn’t easy, above all because of how the match began. We never lost confidence and little by little we won control of the ball. We were efficient up front and Vinicius produced an incredible performance.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE:
Madrid now hold a comfortable three goal lead as they await the home leg at Santiago Bernabeu. However, the Italian manager is not over-confident and believes that Liverpool can make them “suffer” if taken lightly.
He added: “This is only the first part of a knockout tie. It’s gone our way, but we’ll need to imagine that in the second leg we’ll have to suffer and work hard. Liverpool is a great team which made us suffer in the first half so I’d say that, unfortunately, this tie isn’t finished. No way.”

Ancelotti will be optimistic of his side keeping a positive result in the Madrid Derby in Saturday’s LaLiga fixture.
