Victor Osimhen is not for sale
Osimhen is untouchable at Napoli
Despite rumors of Manchester United being interested in Osimhen, Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has made it clear that the Nigerian striker is not for Sale.
In a Napoli side who are almost assured to win the Serie A this season, Osimhen has played a crucial role in his side being 13 points clear of Inter Milan in 2nd place.
The Nigerian forward is the league’s top scorer as of now with 16 goals in 17 games played this campaign. The 24-year-old striker is reportedly a summer target for Manchester United, who are willing to throw £107 million for the Nigerian’s services.
What did Napoli’s president have to say?
While talking to German Newspaper Bild, Laurentiis said, “I can tell you that Osimhen is not for sale. Our players are in demand, but I don’t have to sell anyone.”
Napoli’s president Aurelio de Laurentiis puts emphasis on the point that Napoli does not ‘have to’ sell Osimhen.
Osimhen has been critical for Napoli since joining from Lille in 2020 for £62.4m. In the meantime, he has scored 45 goals in 83 appearances. His contract is set to run until the summer of 2025 and a renewal hasn’t been discussed yet.
United is currently relying on loanee Wout Weghorst and an injury-prone Anthony Martial, thus the need for a new striker.
The big-spending Chelsea is also expected to get into the bidding war for the forward.
Despite spending upwards of £323m in January, the Blues are relying on Kai Havertz to play the false nine roles.
His partner in crime, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has a long line of suitors himself. The Georgian winger has been a revelation ever since he arrived at the club. He has also been praised for his heroics in the Champions League against Liverpool.
Manchester City is believed to be keeping tabs on the Georgian forward.
