Veteran NFL Reporter Jim Trotter to Leave NFL Network

It’s never easy to say goodbye, especially when it’s not your choice. That’s exactly what veteran NFL reporter Jim Trotter shared on Twitter today. In a tweet, Trotter revealed that this week would be his last at NFL Media Group. Unfortunately, the network had decided not to renew his contract.

But despite the bad news, Trotter handled the setback like a true pro. He remained his usual classy self and expressed gratitude for the lessons he learned and the affirmations he received during his five years at NFL Network and NFL.com.

Of course, Trotter’s colleagues were quick to send him their best wishes and encouraging messages. Steve Wyche of the NFL Network praised Trotter’s courage and conviction, which he said should be appreciated by all. Wyche also noted that sharing a platform with Trotter had been a blessing.

Meanwhile, ESPN’s Field Yates expressed his regret at seeing Trotter go and confidently predicted that he wouldn’t be out of work for long.

And Bruce Feldman of The Athletic sang Trotter’s praises as well, calling him one of the wisest and best people he’s ever worked with. Feldman also noted that Trotter had been the conscience of a league that often doesn’t have one.

It’s never easy to see someone as talented and respected as Jim Trotter leave a network. But as his colleagues noted, Trotter’s impact on the NFL and the issues it faces won’t go away just because he’s leaving NFL Network. We’re sure he’ll land on his feet soon and continue to make a difference wherever he goes.
