Ahead of the trade deadline, one of the season’s most dramatic transfers was seen by NBA fans. Notably, the news of the trade involving former Brooklyn Nets stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving caught the fans off guard. The pair dominated the hardwood with their chemistry and prowess. Additionally, the recent transfers ended a 4-season-long friendship between the two. While the celebrities refrained from commenting on the matter, the fans conjectured various explanations for the breakup online. Though days after the contract, Durant recently commented on the significant Kyrie Irving trade.

While Slim Reaper was out with an injury, Irving made a tough trade out of the Brooklyn Nets squad. KD didn’t speak up about the trade until he left the Brooklyn camp, despite numerous NBA players and analysts doing so. After being traded to the Phoenix Suns, Durant recently participated in a press conference where he finally spoke out about the Irving trade.

Kevin Durant got emotional after the Kyrie Irving trade:

During his first press conference, Kevin Durant talked about leaving the Nets’ organization. He stated the following about Kyrie Irving:

 “Yeah, I was upset that we couldn’t finish…We were finally building the culture that we always wanted. I felt like every game we were building our chemistry.”

The two-time NBA Champion added that Irving didn’t warn him before making a crucial choice.

KD continued by describing how his influence affected Uncle Drew’s trade. And he said,  “He’s a Hall of Fame player…and we relied on that. So without him, we didn’t have a clear identity. So that was tough for me to stomach.” 

James Harden, a former Nets star, recently made a statement that offered a different perspective on the stars’ departure.
