UFC Fighter Sean Strickland Faces Backlash for Offensive Comments on Women

UFC fighter Sean Strickland is getting ready to fight Abusupiyan Magomedov in a big event that will be shown on ESPN. But recently, something else caught people’s attention. During a press conference organized by ESPN on Wednesday, the 32-year-old fighter said some really offensive things about women.

Strickland’s comments were not just disrespectful, they were really hurtful. He said, “We need to go back to like, taking the women out of the workforce. And maybe that is where we f–ked guys…we let women vote, no offense.”

He even suggested, “What you did man…you let these women come in workforce, now we make less money, you kids raising themselves on f–king TikTok. We need to go back to like 1942, we need to put women back into the kitchen. So I think, as a collective man group we need to elect somebody to put women back in the kitchen.”

Understandably, Strickland’s comments have made a lot of people angry. Many fans and others in the community are disappointed and shocked that someone would still express such negative views about women in this day and age.

One person couldn’t decide if Sean Strickland’s behavior is an act or if he genuinely holds such unlikable views. He wrote, “I can never tell if this is a schtick with Strickland, or if he’s really this unlikable. I’m aware a lot of people in the MMA space say outlandish shit for attention, but is this dude REALLY this backward thinking?”

Another fan said, “I am convinced he gets main event spots by the UFC because he is able to consistently create a news cycle through airing out the grievances he builds up since his last press conference.”

A third fan expressed frustration saying, “Every Sean Strickland fight week reminds me why I sometimes hate mma. We get the most brain dead wrong possible takes everytime he picks up a microphone. And sadly this reflects a lot of the fanbase because they eat this shit up.”

We don’t know yet how the UFC will respond to this situation. Strickland’s fight is coming up soon, so the organization has to make a tough decision about what to do. They have to think about whether there should be consequences for his offensive comments.
