U.S. Women’s Soccer Star Julie Ertz Announces Her Retirement

Julie Ertz, one of the most famous and well-known USWNT soccer players has just made a big decision of her life that has shocked the whole sports world.

After spending a long time in football, Ertz is now ready to start a new career and has decided to take Her Retirement from the football world.

On Thursday afternoon, Ertz announced her retirement from soccer at the age of 31.

“As an athlete you’re always singularly focused on the next goal, the next tournament and rarely do you get time to reflect on your career,” Ertz said. “However, over the past couple of months my heart has been filled with gratitude as I’ve thought about the amazing experiences soccer has given me. I’ve been blessed to meet and train with some of the best and most inspirational women I’ve ever been around, and I’ve experienced different cultures while traveling the world to compete at the highest level. I gave everything I had to the sport that I love. With that I can walk away with no regrets because while I gave soccer every ounce of myself, soccer gave me even more, and for that I’ll always be thankful.”

In her retirement letter, Ertz called playing for the USWNT the “greatest honor” of her career.

Ertz started playing with the USWNT in 2013. Her last game was against Sweden in the 2023 World Cup. Even though soccer fans won’t see Ertz playing anymore, they have lots of good memories of her.

Ertz will end her career as a two-time World Cup Champion, two-time U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and 2014 NWSL Rookie of the Year.
