Two Women Shot At Guaranteed Rate Field During White Sox Baseball Game

An unfortunate event occurred on Friday night game between the Athletics and White Sox. Two women were injured in a shooting during the game at Guaranteed Rate Field.

According to the Chicago PD, a 42-year-old woman shot was shot in the leg. She was immediately taken to the hospital. Another 26-year-old woman refused to take any medical attention as she only had a graze injury to her abdomen.  

The whole incident is under investigation and reported by the Police department. They are still trying to figure out where these shots came from whether inside from the ballpark or outside of the stadium.

The police said in its statement, “Upon receiving notification of this incident, CPD responded immediately and deployed additional resources while coordinating with White Sox security to maintain the safety of those who were in attendance or working at the game. At no time was it believed there was an active threat.”

Reportedly, the crowd in the stadium was announced 21,906 for the game. The Chicago White Sox lost the game against the Oakland Athletics by a 4-12 score.

Via the team statement, “While the police continue to investigate, White Sox security confirms that this incident did not involve an altercation of any kind.”

The White Sox team also prayed for the victims, “The White Sox are thinking of the victims at this time and wishing them a speedy recovery.” 

The next game of the White Sox will be this Saturday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.
