The placard said, “If I don’t get Deandre Ayton’s shoes, I will get the blues.”

To the boy’s joy, Ayton fulfilled his promise to the fan by finding him after the game and giving him his game-used sneakers. The shoes were pumas with an animal design in black and white.

The young admirer observed in wonder. He claimed to have never seen shoes quite like that. Ayton wears a US size 18, which is an incredible shoe size. Puma produces customized footwear for the center.

Portland’s inaugural season with Deandre Ayton

The Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks were involved in a three-team transaction that saw Deandre Ayton sent to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Along with Jrue Holiday and Toumani Camara, Ayton was traded to Portland. Afterward, Holiday was traded to the Boston Celtics. The Blazers changed Jusuf Nurkic, Keon Johnson, and Nassir Little in the transaction.

Ayton is blending in well with Portland’s youthful squad. He has only missed one game and is a key member of the starting lineup.

The Blazers have battled through injuries and managed a 5–12 record. At 11.1 per game, Ayton leads the club in rebounds. In a game, he scores 13.3 points on average. At 59.3, he is now ranked ninth in the NBA this season.

For Ayton, the number seems odd. With Phoenix last season, he scored 18.0 points per game. Before this season, he averaged 17.2 points per game. In Portland, Jerami Grant has taken up more of the load in the frontcourt, pushing Ayton to the back seat. Grant’s ppg average is 23.4.

As the season progresses, Deandre Ayton may be given more chances. Anfernee Simons, Portland’s standout guard, is currently sidelined while recovering from surgery on his thumb. Due to injuries, Scoot Henderson, a first-round pick, has also come in and out of the lineup. Ayton may get more touches if the club is careful with their youthful talent.
