Tottenham Hotspur has renewed their interest in former target Nicolo Zaniolo. As per 90mins, the club is set to make a bid for the Italian midfielder.

Spurs were one of the top suitors for Zaniolo last summer. Although they came close to agreeing on a loan deal, Roma head coach Jose Mourinho stepped intervened and blocked the move.

Fallout At Rome

Meanwhile, Roma had already prepared a renewal contract from the Italian. However, the talks of a new deal have stalled and things have gone south. The midfielder’s time on the pitch has not been anything great either; the 23-year-old was booed off the pitch during the Copa Italia match between Roma and Genoa.

Zaniolo’s contract runs out in the summer of 2024. This means the club must renew him this summer or fear losing him for a free next year. However, the player is keen to move away and his agent has already informed the club about his intention.

Potential Destination

Spurs manager Antonio Conte is known to be fond of the Italian’s abilities. Spur’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici has been in touch with Roma’s executives regarding a possible transfer.

Roma had placed €50m price tag for Zaniolo last summer. However, with his contract running out, Spurs could get away with a cut-price €30m deal. Spurs, on the other hand, are likely to suggest a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

However, Spurs are going to face competition from Borussia Dortmund and numerous other clubs in the Premier League.

Leicester, Leeds, and West Ham are some of the prime candidates for his signature however, Zaniolo fancies a move to Tottenham.

Earlier, Spurs were also keeping tabs on Brighton outcast Leandro Brossard. Although, with rivals Arsenal now close to sealing the deal, Spurs have now turned their head elsewhere.
