Lionel Scaloni, the Argentina manager said that the Paris Saint Germain superstar, Lionel Messi can manage to represent his national team if he takes care of his fitness level.
The 35-year-old Messi won the FIFA World Cup for La Albiceleste in December, thereby completing his trophy collection. Lionel Messi was the first footballer to win the Golden Ball award. He scored 7 goals and 3 assists in seven matches(in Qatar). The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner promised to stay with his national team after Argentina’s FIFA World Cup victory against France.
Messi told TyC Sports:
“No, I’m not going to be retiring from the Argentina national team soon. I want to continue playing as a champion of the world.”
What did Scaloni say about Messi?
When asked about the forward’s future with Argentina, Scaloni hinted at Messi’s decision with the team. Lionel Scaloni talked about it on ESPN and said,
“Being in the next World Cup will be entirely Leo’s decision. If his body can take it for me, he will be there. Behind our recent World Cup title, there was a communion of intentions between the fans, the staff and the players… something emotional that made sense of belonging for this unique shirt even stronger for us.”
Scaloni even praised the Argentine star and said,
