The Open Championship was Halted Today Due to the Appearance of a Toad
A Toad’s appearance stooped The Open Championship today. Everyone likes golf and the Open Championship, be it a human or a toad. It’s no problem if they just watch from the sidelines, but if they appear in the field, then might arise some issues. Something like this happened during the Open Championship play on Saturday.
During the 13th green at Royal Liverpool, a natterjack toad appeared out of nowhere and so the competition was halted for some time. Before the situation was cleared by the Open’s staff, the third round could not be resumed.
It was no problem if it was just a normal toad. That could have been dealt with sooner, but it was a natterjack toad which is endangered and so hard to find. The staff has to handle this matter with extra precaution and took their time.
The size of the toad was around six to eight centimeters and was quite hard to find even many peoples working together.
“Smaller than the common toad, the natterjack toad is very rare. This amphibian breeds in warm, shallow pools on sand dunes and sandy heaths in just a handful of special places in England and Scotland; sadly, just one or two colonies now remain in southeast England and east anglia. Natterjack toads are mainly nocturnal; in the spring, the males all sing together at night to attract females and their calls can be heard up to a mile away!,” From The Wildlife Trusts.
After the toad was captured and the situation on the field was resolved, the game was resumed and everyone did their best to win the rounds.
