Coming into the North London Derby, Arsenal was on top of the Premier League table. After last night’s 2-0 win over Spurs, the Gunners only extended their lead on top by eight points.

An own goal from Hugo Lloris followed by Martin Odegaard’s effort from outside the box was enough for them to grab all three points.

Spurs gave us early signs as keeper Hugo Lloris mishandled the ball on several occasions. It was Martinelli who was putting pressure which made Lloris and Lenglet uncomfortable. The ball went back into the box after a touch from Lenglet which gave Nketiah an opportunity to take a left-footed shot that was eventually saved by the French keeper.

In the 14th minute, Arteta’s side took the lead due to a howler from Lloris. It was from a great run by Saka as he took a shot from a difficult angle. Lloris dove down and got his hand on the ball but it still went over the line.

On the other hand, Spurs had an opening when left-back Sessegnon played a through ball for Son. The South Korean got into the box and took a shot that was heroically saved by Ramsdale.

Following that, it was all about Arsenal applying heavy pressure from the wings and the midfield. Around the 25th minute, when a shot from Thomas Partey hit the bar indicating that the Spurs were on the back foot.

The hard work from the Gunners finally paid dividends as Odegaard shot from outside the box and went into the bottom corner. This goal solidified Arsenal’s grip on the game.

Coming into the second half, Tottenham was a bit better at creating chances. Kulusevski got a shooting chance in the 48th minute which he blasted over the bar. Soon after, he played in a ball for Kane which he shot straight at Ramsdale.

In the 52nd minute, Kane dropped deep to provide a beautiful ball to Sessegnon who was making a run from wide. However, the shot from the left back was again saved by Aaron Ramsdale who was having a play day between the posts.

Spurs were showing signs of nervousness. In the 69th minute, Eddie Nketiah released a shot at Lloris for which the French keeper stepped onto the occasion.

Arsenal again had an opportunity to extend their lead in the game. It was Saka whose shot went into the stands.
