“That’s cowardly,” says American-Israeli NBA great Amar’e Stoudemire of the violence in Palestine

Former NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire was blunt in his assessment of Hamas’s strike on Israel, which murdered civilians. The six-time All-Star didn’t hold back after the unexpected attack known as Operation Al-Aqsa Flood heightened regional tensions to near-unprecedented levels. In a recent post, Stoudemire, who is also an Israeli citizen, couldn’t contain his rage and aggravation. He, like most others across the world, was stunned by the violence that has engulfed the affected area.

Over the years, Stoudemire has embraced Judaism and aided Jewish kids. He wrote the following on his Instagram account (via TalkBasket):

“I awoke this morning to the disturbing news from Israel that Hamas is kidnapping children, locking them up, killing women, and killing the elderly.” That’s some coward nonsense. That is a cowardly act. And to all you Black Lives Matter [supporters] who aren’t saying anything, [saying] ‘Let me find out precisely what’s going on before I say anything,’ f**k you.”

Amar’e Stoudemire’s tirade against individuals who are indifferent to or do not support Israel continued:

“All you politicians who always have to say something on the contrary, I see you, f**k you. All you Black Lives Matter people who always have something to say and always support everything else and are quiet now, f**k you too.”

Stoudemire played in Israel after 14 seasons in the NBA, when he was one of the league’s most popular superstars. He assisted Hapoel Jerusalem (2017) and Maccabi Tel Aviv (2020) in winning the Israeli Basketball Premier League.

The former Phoenix Suns player was reared as a Baptist but was aware of his Jewish ancestors. In an interview in 2010, he stated that his mother played a significant impact in his upbringing and ultimate embrace of Judaism as his faith.

Amar’e Stoudemire was granted Israeli citizenship in 2019 and took the name Yahoshafat Ben Avraham.

Amar’e Stoudemire may be required to do more to assist victims of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The Israel-Palestine war seemed to have lasted an eternity. However, Hamas’ recent strike has added to the region’s already tumultuous situation.

Tensions are higher than in previous years. Israel replied after the surprise onslaught, which included massive rocket strikes. On Sunday, warplanes began attacking the Gaza Strip. Strikes were launched against Hezbollah in Lebanon after the group claimed responsibility for the alleged missile attack in “solidarity” with the Palestinians.

Hundreds of people have been murdered on both sides, and thousands more have been displaced as a result of the escalating warfare. To assist the victims of the dispute above, Amar’e Stoudemire may need to do more than scathing words.
