The British player, Liam Broady, who last year attained a career-high rating of 116 in the ATP rankings, has always been outspoken on subjects that most would prefer to avoid.

He is one of the more interesting players to interview in the game and has made public statements about his support for the LGBTQ+ community.

However, when the Wimbledon third-round participant uses Twitter, his willingness to embrace all problems knows no limitations.

Broady doesn’t restrict himself from touching delicate issues

A passionate Manchester City fan, this jovial tennis star was quick to react when his club was charged with over 100 alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations on Monday.

He quickly gave his view on Twitter, suggesting the pending sanctions that may be placed on the club if the case is proven by the Premier League was part of the rollercoaster of being a City fan as he tweeted:

After learning about the potential repercussions for City, he added another tweet, appearing slightly less delighted by the developments:

In an interview with the team’s website, Broady emphasized his devotion to Manchester City and acknowledged that many members of his family have different allegiances.

“Obviously, growing up, having seen City previously, it’s just incomparable. We’re one of the best, if not the best, football playing clubs in the world.

“And for that to be at Man City is incredible.”

“Hopefully this goes on for another 100 or 200 years but I’m just grateful as long as Pep’s here.”

“Even after a tough loss, we still see good football and see some of the best players in the world playing at the Etihad Stadium.”

“It’s tough with the tennis to get to games, but I’ve tried to make an effort for the last six to nine months to come more, I absolutely love it.”

“My family are historically Manchester United fans.”

“My dad’s never been that into football and being from Stockport there’s a large City following there, so at school there were a lot of Blues.”

“My eldest sisters were both City fans and when I was six years old, my sister Naomi made me sign a contract saying I’d always be a City fan lifelong, so it’s quite a legally binding one to be honest! Ever since then I’ve been a big City fan.”

Broady infuriated the notoriously easily offended Novak Djokovic fan base when he suggested tennis players should be permitted to quit tournaments at the last minute, potentially affecting those who may be waiting for a late call into the event.

In August of last year, he responded with an explanation for the tweet following an onslaught of criticism.
