Tennis: Las Vegas player died at the age of 43 at the country club
A tennis player from Las Vegas died after collapsing during a match at Red Rock Country Club.
Ryan Vannah, 43, was pronounced dead at Summerlin Hospital after being treated for 55 minutes by doctors.
Vannah suddenly collapsed on the court
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Vannah was playing mixed doubles tennis on Sunday when he dropped to one knee, placed his hands on the court, and collapsed.
Catherine, his sister-in-law, attempted CPR but was unsuccessful.
The lifelong tennis player had high blood pressure, which runs in his family. Doctors said he was taking the wrong medication.
The family is shocked by his death.
“He took impeccable care of his health,” Tami King his sister said. “He was so fit. He lifted weights. He looked like a bodybuilder to me. He was huge. We did not see this coming.”
“He was a friend to anyone,” one of his friends Dan Michalski stated. “The whole tennis community is really shaken by this.“
Vannah has won the USTA 40+ national championship as part of a doubles team for the last two years.
