Tennessee Quarterback Steals the Spotlight at Manning Passing Academy

Tennessee’s quarterback, Joe Milton, made a big impression at the Manning Passing Academy over the weekend. People were talking about him even before he arrived, and he wowed everyone with his amazing arm strength. There’s a video going viral where he throws a ball an incredible 80 yards in the air.

Milton started the 2021 season as Tennessee’s quarterback but got sidelined by an ankle injury in Week 2. Hendon Hooker took over and played well until he hurt his ACL late in the 2022 season. That’s when Milton came back and did a fantastic job, throwing for 398 yards and four touchdowns in the team’s last two games, including a win in the Orange Bowl against Clemson.

Not only the media and fans were impressed by Milton, but even Peyton Manning himself had good things to say. Manning watched him throw the ball during a practice session with his son and was amazed by Milton’s talent. He had a chat with Milton and praised his performance, saying he was proud of him for stepping up after Hooker’s injury and leading the team to a great bowl win.

Peyton Manning praised Milton, saying, “He was throwing with my son Marshall (last Thursday), and I mean 40 yards is like a little flick for him. Just a warm-up. Had a good visit with him. I’ve enjoyed getting to know Joe. He texts occasionally. Pull hard for him, and boy really proud of him coming in last year after Hendon’s injury. He kept things together and a great bowl win.”

In his two years at Tennessee, Milton has thrown for 1,346 yards, 12 touchdowns, and no interceptions. If he continues to perform well in the 2023 season, there’s a chance he could be considered for the first round of the NFL Draft. It’s an exciting prospect for this talented player from Pahokee, Florida.
