Tennessee Awaits Worrisome News as NCAA Decision Nears
The Tennessee Volunteers had an incredible season in college football back in 2022. Their quarterback, Hendon Hooker, was doing so well that he was even considered for the Heisman Trophy. The Vols surprised everyone by defeating Alabama, which was a big deal.
But now, things have taken a turn for the worse. Hooker has moved on to the NFL, and the Volunteers are facing some potentially devastating news for their program. On Friday, the NCAA Committee on Infractions will announce its decision about Tennessee.

The program has been accused of 18 violations and provides around $60,000 in illegal benefits. These violations and improper benefits happened when Jeremy Pruitt was the head coach of the Vols. The NCAA says that money was given to recruits and their families, including giving thousands of dollars to the mothers of some prospects.
Pruitt was fired in January 2021, and the school has been cooperating with the NCAA’s investigation. Their cooperation might help them avoid the harshest penalties, but it seems likely that some form of punishment will still be given.
Tennessee has already punished itself by reducing scholarships in the football program. However, the final decision on the extent of their punishment will be up to the NCAA. We will find out on Friday what exactly the punishment will be for Tennessee.
