Tebas: Real Madrid to beat Barcelona for Haaland and Mbappe
“Barca cannot compete with Real Madrid for Haaland and Mbappe,” says Tebas
It is no secret that the Catalans are in a financial struggle. However, that hasn’t stopped them from bringing in the best talent available. Still, they cannot come close to their rivals Real Madrid when it comes to throwing in the biggest bid. Up until last season, Los Blancos were in the market for Mbappe while Barca was hoping to land the Norwegian. However, neither of them succeeded as the Frenchman decided to renew while Erling moved to Manchester City.
As of now, both clubs still hope to sign the two players in the near future. La Liga President Tebas however, is of the opinion that Barcelona cannot compete with Real Madrid. He believes that Los Blancos is capable of signing both superstars.
WHAT THEY SAID:
In an interview with El Chiringuito, Tebas was asked about the two players eventually playing in Spain. Especially when Mbappe has been linked with an exit while Haaland’s agent has revealed the superstar holds “the key to the door” at Manchester City.
He said: “I hope that’s the case. But these two players could only come to Real Madrid right now because Barcelona’s financial situation as of today does not permit Barcelona to reach these types of players. Many things would have to change financially at Barcelona for them to be able to go for these players next season, so many things that I would consider it impossible.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE:
Real Madrid was earlier interested in bringing both these players to Santiago Bernabeu. However, Man City was quick to activate the Norwegian’s release clause while Madrid focused on convincing Mbappe. The Frenchman flirted with Real Madrid for the entire second half of last season before agreeing to a new deal with the Parisians.
WHAT NEXT?
In England, Haaland has been tearing apart defenses for fun and is en route to breaking numerous more records if he hasn’t already. In his 27 appearances so far, he has found the net 31 times.
In the meanwhile, the French Striker has scored 25 goals in all competitions for Paris Saint-Germain.
FC Barcelona on the other hand completed the signing of Bundesliga Star Robert Lewandowski in the summer who has scored 23 goals so far. The Catalans themselves are doing pretty great as well as they lead the La Liga table with a five-point lead over Real Madrid and have also won the Super Copa de Espana.
