Tebas questions VAR after Barca-Bilbao match
LaLiga presidents vows to improve VAR after Barca’s win over Bilbao
Amid the allegations of corruption against Barcelona and the tight FFP rules, La Liga president Xavier Tebas has made things tough for Barcelona. It is assumed by some that the LaLiga chief is biased towards Real Madrid and specifically attacks the Catalan club.
His recent effort to trouble Barcelona was when he declared Gavi’s first team registration as null and void. Now he has gone on to call for improving VAR just after Barca’s win against Bilbao where the Catalans survived due to a Muniain goal being called off from.
What did Tebas have to say?
“We have to give a spin to VAR. We have to see if the people involved are adequate, it should be independent. Teams are incredibly uneasy about it. We have to find solutions,” LaLiga president Javier Tebas told Movistar.
Hilariously, the timing of this statement was suspicious as it came a day after the game between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao. The referees took a controversial decision when they disallowed the goal from Iker Muniain calling it a handball.
Here is how a Real Madrid fan reacted
“Lmao, this statement right after the Bilbao-Barca match call. Timing isn’t great at all, man is out on a witch hunt against Barca. Not like refereeing hasn’t been s**t for years, and Tebas has no control over RFEF [the Spanish Football Federation].”
