Team Wee Woo wins first-ever Call of Duty League Challengers competition map on Expo Control
On March 28, the Call of Duty League announced that it was replacing Fortress Control with Expo Control. With more hiding spots and camping locations, the new map was sure to bring new challenges to the competitive scene.
First competitive match on Expo Control
The Call of Duty League fans didn’t have to wait long to see a competitive match on the new map. The first day of Challengers Elite Stage 3 saw Decimate Gaming face off against Wee Woo in the CDC North America 2023 Elite Stage 3.
One team dominates
Wee Woo appeared to have no problem adjusting to the new map. Led by Hamza “Hamza” Shaikh, who had 20 non-traded kills, with ten kills coming on the objective, the team looked very comfortable on Expo Control.
Struggles on the new map
On the other side of the stage, Decimate Gaming’s Javier “Vikul” Milagro struggled on the new CoD map. He went 12k/20d, dealing just 1482 in damage, and struggled to stay on the point.
Lack of scrim time
Adding Expo Control to the map rotation was a concern for some players. Sam “Octane” Larew was vocal about how frustrated he was with the lack of scrim time on the new map. But Wee Woo seemed to have overcome this obstacle.
Potential for the future
Decimate Gaming may have lost the first competitive match on Expo Control, but the team is full of potential future CDL players. They can still make a deep run in the Elite Stage 3.
Wee Woo hangs their hat
For Wee Woo, the victory on the first ever competitive map on the new map, Expo Control, is something to be proud of. They can hang their hat on this win and use it to propel themselves further in the tournament.
