TCU LB Johnny Hodges Admits It’s Wake Up Call After Lost To Colorado In Week 1
TCU linebacker Johnny Hodges admitted that it is a wake-up call for the Horned Frogs after losing to Colorado in College Football week 1.
Last weekend, TCU lost to Deion Sanders and team Colorado with a 45-42. This is not the first time when TCU lost while quite dramatic in College Football games.
To go back a little bit in the history of last season the Horned Frogs surrendered 110 points, including 65 in a 65-7 loss to Georgia in the national championship game.
In two College Football Playoff games, the TCU defense didn’t go very well. While talking to the reporters TCU LB Jonny Hedges used the word ‘laughingstock’ to describe the current situation of the company.
Via ESPN, Hodges said
“I guess you can say it’s a wake-up call. I don’t know how losing in the national championship by 60 isn’t a wake-up call. Right now we’re definitely the laughingstock of college football. Having 22 missed tackles, having who knows how many missed assignments, making our defensive coordinator look awful, just making his defense look like it’s a childhood kids’ defense, and him getting all this slack … So if it’s not a wake-up call, then I don’t know what it is.”
TCU head coach Sonny Dykes also commented on week 1 loss. Dyke said, “I think some games you play in where you look back at the game and you go, ‘There’s not much we could’ve done.'”
Dyke talked about team players’ frustration of losing the week 1 game, but he admitted there are lots of things to learn from mistakes and grow.
“That’s really not the case in this game. There are a ton of mistakes and a ton of things to learn from. That’s the goal. I think our guys were disappointed and frustrated and pissed off, honestly.”
Dyke and the team will definitely be looking forward to taking on FCS Nicholls in their next game at Houston on September 16.
