Steelers HC Mike Tomlin Responds To Criticism For Playing Starters In Preseason Game

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is facing a lot of criticism for playing starters in the preseason game. However, Mike Tomlin has responded to the unnecessary criticism in a recent interview.

Steelers head coach Tomlin has a different approach for the Steelers before the regular NFL season starts. Quarterback Kenny Pickett and the rest of the offensive starters played two series while star pass rusher T.J. Watt and the rest of the defensive starters also got similar playing time.

Via talking to the reporter Mike explained his reasons behind his strategy.

Mike Tomlin said, “I think it’s difficult to box without sparring. Preseason is an opportunity for us to spar and sharpen our swords for the battle.”

Tomlin also said that there are so many new players on the team. He wants to make sure that every player in the team will be on the same page before the main event. During the preseason, his first-team offense scored touchdowns on all five possessions that they had

For now, Tomlin is happy with his strategy. The Steelers’ next match will be at Acrisure Stadium on Sept. 10 against the San Francisco 49ers.
