Star Pakistani Cricketer Wahab Riaz Retires From International Cricket

Big news from the cricket world!

Wahab Riaz, the well-known fast bowler from Pakistan, has officially decided to retire from playing international cricket.

Wahab has had an incredible cricket journey, playing for his country more than 150 times. He’s been a real star in shorter-format cricket, especially when he’s been in charge of the new ball.

You might remember his fantastic performance during the last three Cricket World Cups. In 2011, during a super important match against India, he amazed everyone by taking five wickets in one go! That was a game-changer. Also, his most memorable spell from the 2015 Cricket World Cup against Australia.

Wahab has been thinking about retiring for a while now. He shared, “I have been speaking about my retirement plans past two years, that 2023 is my target to retire from international cricket, and I feel comfortable now more than ever that I have served my country and national team to the best I could have.”

He’s taken a whopping 237 wickets for Pakistan since he started playing internationally in 2008. Wahab is really grateful for his time representing Pakistan on the world stage. “It has been an honour and a privilege to represent Pakistan on the international stage,” he added.

As he closes this chapter of his cricket career, Wahab is super excited about what’s next. He’s going to play in different leagues and entertain cricket fans even more. “As I bid farewell to this chapter, I am thrilled to embark on a new adventure in franchise cricket, where I hope to entertain and inspire audiences while competing against some of the best talents in the world,” he said.

So, it’s a farewell to international cricket for Wahab Riaz.
