Skip Bayless works on Bill Belichick’s future with the Patriots will be decided by Robert Kraft in “very hard decisions”

In the middle of the 2000s, Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft were given credit for starting the New England Patriots dynasty. That has all crumbled during the past four seasons. Tom Brady’s departure created a void at the quarterback position. Then, as a potential future quarterback, the Patriots selected Mac Jones. Although it seemed like a wise choice at the time, Jones has had trouble all season long.

Co-host Skip Bayless discussed his thoughts on the Patriots’ present situation on FS1’s “Undisputed.” He expressed the opinion that Belichick could need to step down as head coach. However, given his track record of success, Bayless doesn’t anticipate owner Robert Kraft axing him in the middle of the campaign.

“All I know is that he has earned the right to finish this year, so I’m not here to argue that he should be dismissed right now. But after this season is through, they won’t make the playoffs, and Mac Jones won’t ever be the solution.

“When this year concludes, Robert Kraft will have to make the biggest choice of his life as an owner because he will need to assess Bill’s performance on the field and in the front office, as Keyshawn mentions, and he will need to make some very difficult decisions. Either he must deprive Bill of some authority, or he must remove Bill from his position entirely.

According to Skip Bayless, Robert Kraft’s impending choice will be among the hardest things he has ever had to do. The co-host of “Undisputed” advised that Kraft maintain Bill Belichick as head coach but demote him to general manager. Given that the Patriots have a 1-4 record to date in the season, a choice must undoubtedly be made.

When did Robert Kraft hire Bill Belichick?

Through the 1999 NFL season, Bill Belichick served as the New York Jets’ defensive coordinator and associate head coach. He subsequently had a job interview with the New England Patriots to become their head coach.

He was employed by Robert Kraft not only as the team’s head coach but also as the team’s nominal general manager. He addressed front office responsibilities with the player personnel director during his first eight seasons with the New England Patriots.

However, he has been the sole decision-maker in the general manager position since the start of the 2009 NFL season.
