Sir Alex Ferguson demands more fire power
Sir Alex urges United to find another goal scorer to pair up with Rashford
The Iconic manager, Sir Alex Ferguson was present at the Wembley Stadium to witness his side win the Carabao Cup. The trophy ended a six year wait for silverware. All credit goes to Erik ten Hag who completely transformed the side struggling near mid table to be in the top four. The man performing on the pitch is the homegrown player, Marcus Rashford who scored in the final and took his tally to 25 for the season.
Having have nurtured enough academy prospects during his time, the Scottish manger was thrilled to see Rashford succeed. The forward remains a threat for opponents and will look to add onto the trophies this season, either it be the Europa League or the Premier League.
WHAT THEY SAID:
Talking to Sky Sports about the English winger, Ferguson said: “I don’t think he’s a striker. He operates away from the left-hand side and has been fantastic. His finishing is always good, always keeps his shots down – which is really important for a striker – and is in a great vein of form. Unfortunately for us he’s the main source of goals – we could do with an extra one, but he’s doing it.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE:
Ferguson was eager to congratulate Ten Hag during the wild celebrations at Wembley. Who better to congratulate Ten Hag than the man who won 13 Premier League titles and the Champions League twice during his time at the realm.
WHAT NEXT?
While, advancing to the last-16 in the Europa league and around the title picture in the Premier League, Ten Hag will be eager to add onto his trophy collection. The Red Devils also remain in contention for the FA Cup, currently being in the fifth round of the cup.
