Simone Biles Aims to Break Gymnastics Record This Weekend at U.S. National Gymnastics Championships
Simone Biles, the gymnastics sensation, is about to do something incredible this weekend. At the U.S. National Gymnastics Championships, she has a chance to make history by breaking a record that’s stood for nearly 90 years.
Here’s the scoop from NBC: Simone Biles could become the first person ever to win eight national all-around titles. Right now, she’s tied with someone named Alfred Jochim, who also won seven titles back in the day.
Alfred Jochim set this record a long time ago, between 1925 and 1933. He was pretty amazing, winning not just national titles, but also two silver medals at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Recently, Simone Biles has been on fire. She won three gold medals and a bronze at a competition called the U.S. Classic in Illinois. That got her a spot in the U.S. Nationals.
Remember when we all watched Simone Biles during the Tokyo Olympics a few years ago? Things didn’t go as planned back then. But she took a break, came back, and has been dominating the gymnastics scene again. Now, it seems like she’s all set to compete in France next summer.
If she wins a few more medals this weekend, it could mean big things for her in 2024.
The U.S. National Gymnastics Championships start tonight at 8 p.m. ET on Peacock. You can also catch them on Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on NBC. It’s going to be an exciting weekend filled with impressive moves and a chance for Simone Biles to make history.
