Shaquille O’Neal plans to roll out 20 more units of Big Chicken restaurant Michigan after opening one in $1.5 billion arena
Known for his amazing 20-year NBA career, Shaquille O’Neal cemented his status as one of the greatest players to have ever played in the game. In addition to his achievements as a basketball player, O’Neal is renowned for his considerable amount of sponsorships and investments as he pursues success in his post-NBA life.
It’s interesting to note that the NBA veteran started his restaurant, “Big Chicken,” which debuted in October 2018 with its first location in Las Vegas, Nevada. The restaurant made a splash when it opened in the $1.5 billion UBS stadium, home of the New York Islanders.
Two years later, Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal signed a development agreement with H&D Group Investments for twenty units in Michigan. A representative from H&D Group Investments reportedly talked about the idea of bringing “Big Chicken” to Michigan, according to Emily Brown of WNEM TV.
“In addition to Shaquille O’Neal’s celebrity support, Big Chicken exudes an uncommon wow factor. I’ve had the honor of sampling a range of menu items at several Big Chicken locations, and every time, the quality and flavor have been outstanding.”
“It was an easy decision to bring the concept to Michigan, and we’re excited to be a part of the brand.”
According to a Matthew Liedke story in the Franchise Times, the NBA legend’s “Big Chicken” locations are set to open in Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Flint, Saginaw, and Mount Pleasant.
The CEO of Shaquille O’Neal’s “Big Chicken” restaurant discusses the H&D Group Investments agreement.
Shaquille O’Neal, the CEO of the well-known chicken restaurant, discussed the benefits of their collaboration with H&D Group Investments in light of the plan to open more “Big Chicken” locations in Michigan:
“The team at H&D Group Investments are exactly the type of experienced operators we’re looking to grow with at Big Chicken,” Halpern said. “They have an impressive track record of success in the highly competitive full-service restaurant segment.”
“And as they introduce the first locations in Michigan and expand Big Chicken’s presence in the Midwest, we’re thrilled to add them to our all-star team of franchises,” Halpern continued. Let’s expand!” (via The Morning Sun)
In addition to its well-known locations in Las Vegas and the UBS Arena in New York, the eatery now has locations in Los Angeles, Seattle, Houston, and Rosemont, according to a piece written by Samantha Dorisca of Yahoo! Finance.
