Friday night evoked an altercation between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies coming up with an argument is not a new thing, but this time they went on cursing a player who was not even from the rival team. A heated argument took place between the Grizzlies and Shannon Sharpe.

The dispute

Shannon Sharpe, the Hall of Famer, was seen sitting courtside. The argument was instigated when he tried to degrade the Grizzlies’ shooting guard by telling him that he was way too small to guard LeBron James.

The Lakers fan made a mistake. He ignited a heated argument between him, Ja Morant, and Morant’s father. Sharpe was also cursed out by Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks.

Later, Sharpe took full charge of the altercation and said, “It does not matter what Dillon Brooks said or how many times he said it. Me, being a responsible person, me, having a platform that I have, and having so many people look up to me, I was wrong. I should have lowered the temperature in the arena, instead, I turned the temperature up. And I let it go out of hand.”

Charles Barkley, a former basketball player and an analyst on TNT criticized Sharpe’s argument on a radio show, “NBA Today”. He said:

“Reporters can never get into it with players. That’s my rule of thumb, because, you know, we get paid to talk about these guys, and if you hate guys or don’t get along with guys, you’re going to be somewhat biased whether you believe it or not.

“Television’s a very powerful vehicle, and you’ve got to be really careful because people believe everything we say, unfortunately. I’m not saying anybody was right or wrong, but I’m saying, as a guy who’s on television, I could never get into it with the players. That’s just my rule of thumb.”

He talked about television and reporters’ biases toward the players. Barkley’s advice to be careful while speaking seems relevant as social media is already flooded with Shanon’s argument with the Grizzlies.
