Scholes believes Lautaro Martinez to be a perfect fit for Man United
Scholes believes Lautaro Martinez to be the striker signing for United ahead of Osimhen and Kane
Paul Scholes believes that Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez will be an ideal signing for the Red Devils ahead of Spurs’ Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
United are in a dire need of a quality striker since Ronaldo left mid-season. Rashford has been working as a makeshift striker while Martial and Weghorst just do not have the quality needed to play at Old Trafford. Thus the Red Devils have been linked with Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.
What did Paul Scholes say?
While in conversation with BT Sport, Scholes said, “I don’t think Kane will move from Tottenham at this point. I think it’s tricky business dealing with [Spurs chairman] Daniel Levy.
“He could string you along right to the very last minute of the transfer window and leave you with nothing.
“I think there are other players out there, like Osimhen. I haven’t seen loads of him, but I see him as more of a [Didier] Drogba type, possibly more of a Chelsea-type center-forward.”
Talking about Osimhen’s fox-in-the-box display against Eintracht Frankfurt, Scholes added: “Is he going to get those kinds of crosses at United? That’s the thing.”
“I like Lautaro Martinez at Inter Milan,” he said. “I think he’s Ten Hag’s type of player. He likes a center-forward who will run about, be aggressive, and get against people. There are options.
“I like Manchester United’s center-forwards as they are. I like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. We all know the quality they’ve got. There are options out there and let’s hope we can bring one in.”
