Sage Steele Explains Retiring From ESPN After Longtime Career

On Tuesday, ESPN’s longtime host and NFL analyst Sage Steele decided to retire after spending 16 years of a career in the company.

Sage finally spoke about her decision on ESPN after calling it home for such a long period of time. Steele retweeted a post from OutKick and explained her reasons for quitting her job. According to Sage basically, she is protecting her right to free speech.

Steele posted on X, said that they basically hit the nail on the head:

She wrote, “2 quick things. First….I haven’t read much of what’s been written over the last 24 hours, but my family sent this article to me and I’m blown away. It perfectly describes my “why”… which has ALWAYS been SO much bigger than me.”

44, Sage also told the story behind the #steelestrong and said she’s been using that hashtag for over five years since NFL films did a story on her family.

“(2/2) Secondly, for those commenting on my use of #SteeleStrong … I’ve been using that hashtag for more than 5 years…ever since NFL Films did this story on my family. I repost it once a year around my parents’ anniversary (almost 52 years) bc the adversity that they continue to overcome is much bigger than anything I have faced. They are my biggest ‘why.'”

So here it goes, Sage Steele opened up about her quitting ESPN to protect her freedom of speech.
