Rumors: The Golden State Warriors to finally get their replacement for Gary Payton II
Since Gary Payton II signed with the Portland Trail Blazers in the offseason, the Golden State Warriors have been missing out on a space for a defensive stopper this year. They need someone to fill the role. And as per the NBA trade rumors, the Warriors have found the one.
Payton II has etched his name as a defensive stopper ever since he entered the Warriors. He found his home in the NBA at the age of 29. He made a small but noteworthy contribution to the Warriors by helping them in the championship run and making remarkable dunks. His signing with the Blazers left a void to be filled in the Warriors.
What’s the trade rumor
It has been hypothesized that the Warriors could end up with Matisse Thybulle of the Philadelphia 76ers without giving up on James Wiseman, Moses Moody, or Jonathan Kumiga. Thybulle is similar to Payton in terms of his defensive skills. He can put all his energy into harassing ball handlers or chasing the shooters.
Though Thybulle cannot single-handedly change the Warriors’ fate, he can make a lot of difference in the team. He can help the Warriors just like Gary Payton II did.
