Rumors by John Collins: The Atlanta Hawks have considerably reduced the asking price for the forward

According to reports & news, the Atlanta Hawks have significantly decreased their asking price for John Collins. In August 2021, he signed a five-year contract worth $125 million and a yearly salary of around $25 million that will steadily improve to $31 million by the 2025–26 season.

Reports say that the Hawks were seeking a trade package for Collins that is similar to one that the Utah Jazz received for Donovan Mitchell & Rudy Gobert.

However, this may result in difficulties, as Collins has shown obvious talent but hasn’t fully lived up to his potential yet.

Atlanta Hawks decrease John Collin’s asking price

Collin is a strong defender but still struggles to stay engaged at times. The Hawks coaching staff has praised Collins for his dedication and willingness to learn & improve. And as per the searches, Colin will continue to play as a defender in the coming seasons.

Apart from this, Collin is greatly known for his playing skills, & being an all-around shooter makes him rare. However, the facts say something else, as he is not playing to his best potential in the games.

This makes the bigger package more difficult. And whether Colin can get back to his best form will decide his long-term NBA future.

Collin’s low performance

Collin’s signed a five-year, $125 million contract before the 2021-22 season. And has not performed according to the deal; Collin’s first-round pick is averaging just 13.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game this season while shooting 50.3 percent from the field and 23.1 percent from beyond the arc.

As of now, Collin owes over $25 million over the next two seasons and has a player option for over $26 million in the 2025–26 season. Previously, Collins was playing terrific in the 2019–20 season, averaging 21.6 points per game, and he followed that up with another solid season when the Hawks made the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2020–21 season.
