There are rumors that the Boston Celtics legend may join the Kentucky Men’s Basketball coaching staff according to Jack Pilgrim, the Kentucky basketball beat writer at KSR.
Rajon Rondo is one of the best point guards in the NBA and a four-time All-Star, who averaged 11+ assists playing 16 seasons of the league, in four different times. Currently, with the 2022-23 NBA season halfway through, he is a free agent and most likely not to join a new team shortly. There are also rumors he could also be finishing playing.
On Friday, there was a statement by Jack Pilgrim of On3, stating that Rondo is, “Working towards joining the Kentucky coaching Staff in 2023-24.”

“The former Kentucky standout is actually back on campus taking classes and hanging around the basketball offices. And the plan is to stick around, with Rondo in early conversations with John Calipari about joining the staff – like Ulis – as a student assistant next season.”
Rondo’s achievements
Rondo has played for nine different teams in NBA, but he is best known for the time he has spent with the Boston Celtics.
Being from Kentucky and playing college basketball for Wildcats ( 2004-2006 ), he has won the NBA Championship title twice with Boston Celtics in 2008, and also with the Lakers in 2020, associating him with the two most notable franchises in NBA.
Having played in 134 NBA Playoff games, the future Hall of Famer has averages of 9.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 7.9 rebounds per game in a total of 957 regular season games.
