Ronaldo’s decline in The Guardian’s 100 best male footballers list, Messi ranks the highest
Cristiano Ronaldo gets a decline in The Guardian’s 100 best male footballers in the world list, and the player’s rival, Messi secures the top position in the list.
Cristiano Ronaldo has come down to 51st rank in the best player in the world list. He ranked the highest in 2014 and 2016. Ronaldo had never ranked above the top 10, but he seems to break his best-player record. He played as a free agent in the FIFA World Cup and this could only bring him to 51st place. Ever since Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr, his performance has declined.
Other young stars have surpassed his rank in the best players’ list. Unlike Ronaldo, Messi is at the top taking Argentina to the World cup trophy. The Argentine player has contributed to the team’s success and shown phenomenal performances throughout the year.
Messi and his grand achievements
He played a pivotal role in the success of Paris Saint Germain (PSG). He also helped Argentina to defeat Saudi Arabia when they were losing in the opening round. He scored seven goals.
He has also won Ballon d’Or awards seven times. In 2020, he was even named to the Ballon d’Or dream team. His contribution to the team has been recognized worldwide. And now, he is again on the best-player list. This is his sixth time showing up on the list and was voted the best male footballer of 2022 by The Guardian. He scored 156 out of 206 and got 76% votes.
In contrast to Messi’s commendable performance, Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance has declined as he stands in 51st place. He was once the winner of The Guardian’s top 100. But it seems like his aura is waning and looks like Ronaldo’s downfall, but let’s hope he will be back with something grand soon.
