Rishabh Pant’s Diet Altered to Khichdi After Car Accident and Surgery

Last year in December, Rishabh Pant, the cricket player from India, was in a car accident. People thought he was really lucky to survive, and many believed it would take a long time for him to get back to playing cricket because of the injuries he got.
But after six months, the medical teams from BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) and NCA (National Cricket Academy) were really impressed with how well Pant had healed. He was able to walk without using crutches, and he could go up stairs without any help.
Fans were really happy to see a video of him playing cricket in a local match in Bengaluru a few weeks ago, especially because it was on India’s independence anniversary. But he wouldn’t have recovered so quickly if a certified nutritionist didn’t help him with his food and diet.
Rishabh Pant’s Recovery Diet After Car Accident and Surgery
As said in a recent article from DT NEXT, the nutritionist who helped Rishabh Pant with his diet is Shweta Shah. She started a program called EatFit24/7 and has worked with many famous Indian celebrities like Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Harbhajan Singh, Mohammad Kaif, and Gautam Gambhir. Pant started working with Shweta even before his car accident, because MS Dhoni, a former captain of the Indian cricket team, suggested it.
After his accident, Pant got hurt in different ways. He had problems with his knees, forehead, wrist, ankle, toe, and also some scratches on his back. After he left the hospital in February, he had surgery on his knee. In March, he started following a special diet plan from Shweta, along with his rehabilitation exercises. Eating the right foods was really important for him to get better faster.
But because he was taking a lot of medicines, his stomach felt heavy, and he had problems like heartburn, bloating, and itchy skin. So, he couldn’t eat meat like chicken (which he liked a lot) or even simple foods like dosa and sweets.
Shweta’s first step was to help his stomach work better and make the juices that help digest food. She gave him a special powder called ‘De-bloat by Eatfit 24/7’. This powder helped his body absorb and use the food and nutrients he ate. But he also had to avoid eating meat.
For the first 20 days, Pant only ate Khichdi, which is made with rice, vegetables, and lentils. Khichdi is a good meal because it’s gentle on the stomach and has lots of good stuff for the body, like carbohydrates, protein, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and fiber.

Shweta said, “You don’t need special things to digest khichdi, and Rishabh didn’t feel gassy or bloated when he ate it. He even said that the khichdi diet was the best diet he ever had.”
Interestingly, even Dhoni ate only Khichdi during the whole ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011, but that was for different reasons and not because of stomach issues.
Beside Khichdi, What Other Foods Helped Rishabh Pant Recover Fast?
Later on, Pant started eating more foods like rice, flatbreads (rotis), and special dosas made from buckwheat, in addition to Khichdi. In the evenings, he had snacks like tikkis, kebabs, sprouts, chaats, bhel (a snack), and gluten-free noodles. For dinner, he had rice and chicken curry.
It’s important to note that he started eating meat again after about 15 days of eating only khichdi. He also added energy foods to his diet. These included special laddoos made of seeds, coconut, almonds, walnuts, dates, raisins, nutmeg, honey, and ghee (a kind of fat). He also had boiled beetroot and fresh fruits as part of his diet as time went on.
Now, Shweta is helping Pant focus on losing some fat and inches by controlling the portion sizes of his meals. She gave credit to Pant’s friend and manager, Puneet Solanki, for making sure everything was ready for his diet. Solanki got all the things they needed in advance and gave clear instructions to the chefs whenever the diet changed.
