Rio Ferdinand calls for Antony and Sancho to emulate Trossard
Rio Ferdinand says that Antony and Sancho lack Trossard’s risk-taking ability
New Arsenal winger, Leandro Trossard has hit the ground running at the Emirates. He recently provided a hat trick of assists in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Fulham. His performances have attracted a lot of eyes, including former Red Devil, Rio Ferdinand.
The Premier League legend pointed out qualities of Trossard which Man United wingers Jadon Sancho and Antony lack.
What did Rio Ferdinand have to say?
On his Vibe with Five channel on YouTube, Ferdinand said, “There’s one part of Antony and Jadon Sancho’s game that I think needs to improve, and that’s taking more risks.”
“You don’t get anything in this game without taking risks. You don’t have success without taking risks, you don’t win trophies without taking risks.
“Alex Ferguson used to say to us all the time that he doesn’t want safe from forwards. That’s what I love about Bruno Fernandes, by the way.”
While talking of one player which United players must take inspiration from, Rio added: “[Leandro] Trossard, for me, has been a masterstroke signing. He gives Arsenal that depth in wide areas and up front.
“When you talk about wide players not taking risks, this guy takes risk. He gets the ball, he goes forward, he plays one-twos, he dribbles, he takes people on and he can see a pass.”
Arsenal paid only £27 million for the Belgian while Sancho and Antony arrived for a ridiculous combined cost of £155 million.
