Reports: Chelsea made a move to sign David Raya who has already rejected two contract extension offers
Brentford goalkeeper David Raya has reportedly said to have received a contact from Chelsea over a move to Stamford Bridge.
The 27-year-old Raya was seen as a potential player for Brentford this season. His contract will expire in 2024 with the Bees.
As per a Football Insider, Raya was contacted by Chelsea for his transfer to London. The solicited fee for the Spaniard to get transferred to join the Blues is £40 million.
Frank and the Bees’ boss talked about Raya
Frank told that before this weekend, Raya has rejected two contract proposals from Brentford, which he thinks is evidence of the player’s interests and intentions. Frank said via Sky Sports, “I think if he turns it down twice then unfortunately that’s a signal. We made two really good offers, and that’s fine, it’s a free world. We can’t force anyone.”
Even the Bees boss said that he thinks that the Spanish goalkeeper is among the best players in the Premier League and it would be difficult to keep a grip on him. Bees boss said,
“I think he’s one of the best ‘keepers in this league right now. I hope he stays forever but it looks like it could be difficult with the contract situation.”
However, he suggested that Raya deserves above £40 million.
“He must be worth at least £40m+. If he had three years left, it would be £70m. How much was Kepa? He’s at least as good as him.”
