Report: ESPN SportsCenter Host Sage Steele’s Salary Revealed

Sage Steele, a well-known host on SportsCenter, might be able to avoid losing her job at Disney because of an ongoing lawsuit she filed against the company.

A recent report by A.J. Perez from Front Office Sports revealed that Steele is one of the highest-paid employees at ESPN, earning a whopping $3 million every year. She still has about one year left on her contract, which means she’s financially secure for now.

The trouble started when Steele spoke out on Jay Cutler’s podcast, expressing concerns about COVID-19 vaccine mandates, calling them “sick and scary.” Two days after that, Disney suspended her, which led her to sue the company in April 2022. Steele claims Disney violated her rights to free speech by suspending her.

Even though Disney is cutting costs and laying off many employees, it’s tricky for them to fire Steele because that could result in more legal trouble for them. If they let her go now, it could be seen as retaliation for her lawsuit, and she might have another legal claim against them.

Steele’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, made it clear that if Disney tries to fire her while they’re still in court, they’ll take further legal action. He stated that you can’t fire someone just because they’re suing you, and it’s not something any company would want to do.

Recently, Disney offered Steele $501,000 to settle the issue, but her lawyer refused the offer. Freedman said that no amount of money can take away her rights, no matter how powerful Disney thinks they are.

As the legal battle continues, it’s interesting to see how things will unfold for Sage Steele at ESPN.
