The reason why Shelton Douthett, a Miami fan who wore full pads and jersey to every game, is a beautiful story.
Yesterday, a Miami fan went viral for wearing full pads and a jersey during the Miami Hurricanes vs Bethune Cookman game.
Some people find it funny, others stupid act. The Overtime account on X Twitter became judgemental and made fun of this Miami fan and his attire. The Overtime mocked the fan for thinking he was on the team.
To defend the kid, Brody Logan of KSEE 24 News pointed out that the fan, Shelton Douthett, is well-known for doing this during the game.
Logan wrote, “His name is Shelton Douthett. When his brother was in the hospital with pneumonia he told Shelton it would be fun to dress in a full jersey and pads for a game when he got better. His brother died soon after. So he dresses in full pads, in his brother’s memory, every game.”

Logan and many other fans shared the story about Shelton’s brother being in the hospital with pneumonia, he told him it would be fun to dress in a jersey and pads for a game once he got better. Douthett’s brother tragically passed away and Douthett has worn the pads with his jersey to every game he’s attended since to honor his brother’s memory.
So many fans roast Overtime for not doing their research and posting content to hurt someone’s feelings.
Shelton Douthett and his brother’s story is truly beautiful and touched so many people’s hearts.
